The United Arab Emirates continues to expand its initiatives aimed at attracting international talent. The government has broadened the eligibility criteria for the UAE Golden Visa, creating new opportunities for qualified freelancers and independent professionals.
Under the updated regulations, self-employed specialists can now apply for a 10-year residency visa without the need for an employer or a local sponsor. Applicants may qualify by holding a valid Freelance Permit.
The new program allows freelancers to legally live and work in the UAE, collaborate with international clients, and sponsor their family members for residency, making relocation to the country easier.
To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate an annual self-employment income of at least AED 360,000 over the past two years, possess relevant professional experience, and hold a valid freelance work permit.
The application process includes selecting an appropriate free zone, obtaining a freelance license, and submitting a residency visa application through the relevant government authorities.
Experts believe that the expansion of the Golden Visa program further strengthens the UAE’s position as a global hub for entrepreneurs, remote professionals, and highly skilled specialists. The growing number of long-term residents is expected to support the country’s real estate market, service sector, and investment environment while maintaining strong demand for quality housing across the UAE’s major emirates.
For international professionals, the updated program provides another opportunity to build a long-term career and secure stable residency in one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.
