Dubai’s transport infrastructure continues to expand, with plans to open a second station for the Etihad Rail national passenger network in the emirate. The development was announced by Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
Al Yalayis, located near Jumeirah Golf Estates, is currently set to become the main Etihad Rail passenger station in Dubai. Its opening is scheduled for September 30, 2026. It has now been revealed that another station serving the national railway network is planned for the emirate in the future.
The official name and opening date of the second station have not yet been announced. According to the Dubai Rail Network 2032 transport map, an additional Etihad Rail station is indicated in the Meydan area.
Etihad Rail to Be Integrated with Dubai Metro
One of the key objectives of Dubai’s transport strategy is to integrate the intercity railway network with the Dubai Metro system. This will allow passengers arriving in Dubai to continue their journeys across the city using public transport.
The development of Etihad Rail is part of the large-scale expansion of the UAE’s transport system. Passenger railway services are being introduced in stages and are expected to provide convenient connections between the country’s major cities and regions.
In addition to the national Etihad Rail network, a separate high-speed railway project between Dubai and Abu Dhabi is under development. The planned journey time between the two emirates is approximately 30 minutes.
What Railway Development Means for Dubai Real Estate
New major transport hubs may become an additional driver of development in surrounding districts. Improved transport accessibility traditionally increases the attractiveness of locations for living, business and investment.
In the future, particular attention may be directed towards areas close to planned stations and interchange hubs. The integration of Etihad Rail with the metro and other forms of urban transport could make these locations more convenient for residents and tenants.
For Dubai’s real estate market, the expansion of railway infrastructure represents another element of the city’s long-term development and may support investment demand for well-connected districts.
