Turkey continues to invest heavily in the development of its transportation infrastructure. As part of the national Vision 2053 strategy, the country’s high-speed rail (YHT) network will expand significantly over the coming years.
According to the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, by 2028 high-speed trains will operate in 27 provinces, up from the current 11. The project is expected to greatly improve transportation between Turkey’s major cities and regions.
One of the key projects is the Ankara–Izmir high-speed railway. The first section is scheduled to open in 2027, while the entire line is expected to become operational in 2028. Once completed, travel time between Ankara and Izmir will be reduced to approximately 3.5 hours, making travel faster and more convenient for residents, tourists, and business travelers.
The Ministry’s long-term objective is to build a modern railway network that will allow passengers to travel across Turkey in less than 48 hours. The expansion of the high-speed rail system is expected to strengthen domestic tourism, regional economic development, and the investment appeal of many provinces.
Modern transportation infrastructure remains one of the key drivers of the real estate market. Improved accessibility traditionally increases demand for various regions, stimulates new residential developments, and positively impacts property values.
